Maximum Permissible Urinary Concentrations: Their Relationship to Atmospheric Maximum Allowable Concentrations

چکیده

There are two approaches to the determination of maximum permissible concentrations in urine (M.V.C.'s). The first is the direct method of comparing the concentration of toxic substances with the incidence of symptoms of intoxication. The second is the indirect approach of considering the worker as a sampling device and relating the urinary excretion to the atmospheric concentration to which the worker is exposed. In this case the M.V.C. will, in general, be the urinary concentration which corresponds to the atmospheric maximum allowable concentration (M.A.C.). I will employ this second approach. Let us consider briefly three factors: (I) collection of sample; (2) calculation of results; (3) relationship of M.V.C.'s to M.A.C.'s.

بررسی آلودگی رسوب خشک اتمسفری هوای شهر همدان به عناصر کبالت، کروم و منگنز

Introduction & Objective: Heavy metals are major pollutants that can spread in the atmosphere with particulate matter and dust and because of the toxic and carcinogenic effects, their measurement and control is very important. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess Co, Cr and Mn concentration in the atmospheric dry deposition collected from Hamadan city in 2014.     ...

Heavy metal contamination in soils and food crops around Dabaoshan mine in Guangdong, China: implication for human health.

This study was designed to investigate heavy metal (Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd) contamination levels of soils, vegetables, and rice grown in the vicinity of the Dabaoshan mine, south China. The concentration of Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd in paddy soil exceeded the maximum allowable concentrations for Chinese agricultural soil. The heavy metal concentrations (mg kg(-1), dry weight basis) in vegetables ranged fr...

Concentration of cadmium in rice and urinary indicators of renal dysfunction.

OBJECTIVES (1) To examine the relation between concentrations of cadmium (Cd) in rice and urinary concentrations of indicators of renal dysfunction and the prevalence of abnormalities in urine in areas polluted by Cd. (2) To establish the maximum allowable concentration of Cd in rice from these findings. METHODS The target population consisted of 1703 inhabitants (832 men and 871 women) aged ...

Predicting toxicometric parameters on the basis of studying the concentration--time dependence.

A short-time exposure on the concentration--time relationship base, a classification of substances according to the degree of hazard and the program for assessing safety coefficients have been suggested in order to predict the basic toxicometric parameters (chronic exposure thresholds, maximum allowable concentrations, safety coefficients, and others).

Health risk from heavy metals via consumption of food crops in the vicinity of Dabaoshan mine, South China.

Heavy metal contamination of soils resulting from mining and smelting is causing major concern due to the potential risk involved. This study was designed to investigate the heavy metal (Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd) concentrations in soils and food crops and estimate the potential health risks of metals to humans via consumption of polluted food crops grown at four villages around the Dabaoshan mine, Sou...
